Choosing A Trainer For Your Rottweiler

My Rottweiler was out of control and I needed help! I immediately started looking for a reputable dog trainer to help me deal with my Rottweilers' undesirable behavior.
I found that most dog trainers have a sort of openhouse policy, where they invite you to check out a class and see if it suits your needs. By doing this, I was also able to talk openly with other dog owners about their feelings related to the class.
After hearing some horror stories, I knew how a bad trainer could ruin a potentially great Rottweiler. I didn't want my dog forced to do anything he didn't feel at ease with or because he was scared of being physically reprimanded.
Eventually, I settled on taking him to a class that used food incentives, instead of force and we had a great time learning in that environment.

Choosing A Rottweiler Puppy Name Is As Much Fun As Choosing A Babys Name

Thinking of a suitable Rottweiler puppy name? If you are stumped on what to name your new Rottweiler puppy, then try using a baby name book.
A baby name book can be used when you want a standard Rottweiler puppy name. These books will have names available that would be suitable to use as Rottweiler puppy names.
Remember that dog names should be easily recognizable by your dog so that he or she can learn commands and know when you are calling. If you choose a more complex dog name for your animal, make sure it can be shortened.
Rottweiler puppy names are so varied, so it should not be too hard to find a name you (and the dog) will like.

Caring For Your Rottweilers Teeth

Caring for my Rottweilers teeth and gums has become as routine as caring for my own. In addition to plenty of chew toys and bones, I also provide busy bones (found in my local supermarket dog food aisle) as a nutritious and helpful alternative to plaque removal.
By brushing my Rottweilers teeth though, I can help provide a more thorough dental routine.
In the beginning, use a small child size toothbrush and make sure to opt for a uniquely formulated dog toothpaste. Start by brushing for only a few seconds to get your Rottweiler used to this new action and eventually over the course of a few weeks, build up the time spent brushing.
Dental care is another opportunity to build up trust between myself and my Rottweiler.

Caring For Your Rottweiler As He Ages

Make sure you care for your Rottweiler as he ages. He has been there for you his entire life. He wants nothing more than to be with you every waking moment.
Spend time with your dog. Maybe all you can do is pet him. It doesn't matter. Caring for your Rottweiler as he ages will make his last days acceptable and you can take it all in.
As he ages he may need help with getting in and out of your vehicle. He may need a ramp where he would jump up before.
Caring for your Rottweiler as he ages can make the time he has left a bonding moment. With all that he has given you in his life you'll be glad you spent time with him.

Car Travel With Your Rottweiler

Car travel with your Rottweiler can be fun but it can also be frustrating and complicated. There is a lot to think about before taking the trip.
You have to consider that your dog will probably need to use the bathroom more than you. You don't want to try and guess when he is being serious.
Because your Rottweiler needs the extra stops, plan ahead and consider how you will take care of him.
Do you want your dog walking around the inside of your car while driving? This is something else that has to be well thought out traveling with your Rottweiler.

Canine Cuisine 101

It would appear that what goes into the Rottweiler has a direct effect as to what comes out of the Rottweiler. So, finding the right diet to feed your Rottweiler has got to be taken very seriously.
I wasn't going to use the ultraexpensive food the breeder recommended, I simply couldn't afford to have the dog eating better than Mike and I. So I found some guidelines to help me choose a healthy alternative.
The first few ingredients should be meat, as in chicken, beef, turkey, lamb or whatever. They shouldn't be chicken broth, or beef byproducts, etc. Also, look for whole foods in the ingredients. You want to see corn, not corn meal.
Avoid artificial colors, flavors, chemical preservatives, added sugars or artificial sweeteners and avoid unnamed animal sources (i.e. animal fat, meat, bone meal etc.).

Bristle Brushes Bring Pleasure

I wanted to keep my darling's coat in the best possible shape at all time, but I wasn't sure how. I realized that I needed to figure out exactly what you need to groom your Rottweiler. What I found was that for daily and basic maintenance grooming all I needed was a good quality bristle brush.
I have now made it a part of our daily routine to spend oneonone time brushing him from top to bottom. He likes the attention and it is a great training opportunity as well. I can then tell whether we need to look at flea remedies or just give him a standard bath if he is getting too dirty.
Luckily for me, he seems to enjoy the massage and touch effect of the brushing.
There are times when upon completion of the brushing there is a huge pile of dead hair. I'm sure it feels good to him to have all that off his skin.

Bringing The Baby Home

The puppy comes home today! I can't wait to pick him up. It has been a whirlwind of activity to prepare for our Rottweiler puppy. For example, in preparation we have been running through the house looking for things that may pose a temptation for him to chew through or knock off.
Basically I have crawled all over the house as if I was child proofing it looking for obstacles and temptations that may cause a hazard if the puppy found them.
The household cleaning supplies that I used to store under the kitchen sink have been moved up into a higher level closet. I didn't want to risk that the cabinet might open and curious puppy would maybe crawl in and snoop around.
Because I am not sure of the names of all the houseplants that I have collected over the years, I cannot look online to see what ones of them may be toxic. I have given the majority of them away and moved the remainder to hangers or to the top of bookshelves to ensure the puppy can't chew on them.

Brains And Brawn Work Together To Melt My Heart!

My baby is running all around the backyard today, busting through the leaves I had raked up earlier. He is everywhere, and I remain amazed at how strong Rottweiler puppies really are.
I always thought it was stupid how people acted like Rottweiler puppies were little adults. But, as I watch the little rascal I can see how they would appear to be advanced for their age.
The puppy requires a lot of patience and even more supervision. He is fast, small, and incredibly curious and that can be nothing short of dangerous considering he is also quite fearless. He is using the bathroom more and more outside though, and my praise seems to be helping him recognize that outside potty usage is preferred.
We are making some real progress. I find him completely enchanting!

Blue Ribbon Rottweiler

Blue ribbon dogs are few and far between. Your Rottweiler may be a wonderful dog but not necessarily blue ribbon.
Your dog must have perfect conformation in order to even be considered for the finals and there just aren't a whole lot of dogs that look perfect.
Your Rottweiler may look and act great but you will also need to show his pedigree to prove his blue ribbon worthiness.
Having a blue ribbon Rottweiler takes a lot of experience. Enjoy your Rottweiler for himself and if you are rewarded with a blue ribbon you can just consider it icing on the cake.
